    Why ULV

As someone from Hawaii, I wanted to pursue my education somewhere new. From my first campus tour, the university’s strong support system stood out to me. The welcoming atmosphere made it clear this was a place where I could thrive in and out of the classroom.

Favorite Event or Tradition at the University

I chose La Verne for its strong Communications Department, where I’ve written for Campus Times, worked at LEOFM, and pursued my goal of news broadcasting with incredible mentors. The location allowed me to embrace independence while still being close enough to visit home. La Verne also gave me opportunities to be well-rounded, from playing softball to serving as a dance team captain, joining a sorority, and working as an Admissions Ambassador.

Favorite Place to Hang Out on Campus

My favorite spot is the Ludwick Center because it’s a peaceful place to work and recharge. I also love using the meditation rooms to build balance and manage stress.

What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming student?

Embrace the change. It can feel scary at first, but it will help you grow in ways you never expected. Change helped me become a better student, leader, and person.
